The first known Fleetham in our tree, to date, is one Thomas Fleetham who I estimate to be born around the early 1700's. This colour indicates no living offspring.

EDWIN FLEETHAM 1846: 1851 - 5 yrs, with parents. 1861 - 14 yrs, living with parents. 1881 - 34 yrs, residing at 19 Moor Terrace with his Scottish born wife, Margaret. No children in evidence only a 15 yr old servant girl. Visitor, 31 year old Ann G Cribble from Scotland also in household.
2 Jan 1879 St Hilda's Church, Hartlepool - Edwin Fleetham, aged 32, bachelor, master mariner, son of Saul Andrew Fleetham (deceased), Friar Terrace, Hartlepool, by licence, both signed.
According to George Willan Grainger's notes Edwin was a master mariner and his wife was a certified teacher.
Northern Daily Mail, West Hartlepool, 15 may 1905 - Fleetham, on May 11th, Capt. Edwin Fleetham, of S.S. Grosmont, at Singapore, after a brief illness.

ELIZA JANE FLEETHAM 1843: Birth registered Stockton 1843 4th Quarter xxiv pg 221? 1851 - Jane 7 yrs, with parents. 1861 - 17 yrs, living with parents. 18 Sept., 1867 - Marriage at St Hilda's Church, Hartlepool, Eliza Jane Fleetham, aged 24, spinster, daughter of H Andrew Fleetham (grocer), residing in Hartlepool, by banns, Cleric was D R Falconer.
Eliza Jane died Wellington 1918 death cert no. 1323. As the family were sailing to NZ, Mt Tarawera erupted, the report heard at Cape Town was that the NI had turned over. Eliza Jane left England for NZ with her husband and family. An account of their pioneering life, written by her son, Charles Andrew Grainger, makes interesting reading. SAINT ANDREW FLEETHAM 1810: Saint Andrew Fleetham was a grocer and Importer. At the time of his marriage he was resident in Hartlepool and his wife resident at Claypath. Witnesses to the marriage were Ralph Laider and Mary Ann Mitchell.
1841 - 30 years, grocer, dwelling Southgate St, Hartlepool with wife and two youngsters. Also in household is Elizabeth Liddell (? 80 year old mother of independent means) an apprentice and young female servant. 1851 - 40 yrs, grocer, dwelling Stripes, Hartlepool, with wife and 5 children as well as 90 yr old visitor (? mother, annuitant) Elizabeth and a servant. 1861 - 50 yrs, grocer, dwelling Northgate St, Hartlepool, with wife and 4 children. 1871 - 60 yrs, grocer, dwelling 15 Northgate, Hartlepool, with wife and 2 adult sons, plus a 17 yr old servant.
Wife JANE LIDDELL 1804: Resident of Claypath at time of marriage. 1841 - 30 yrs. 1851 - 39 yrs. 1861 - 49 yrs. 1871 - 59 yrs.
THOMAS FLEETHAM 1777: 1841 - 60 yrs, farmer, dwelling Burneston, Exelby, Leeming and Newton, with 30 year old son, Thomas, and Ann Fleetham aged 15 and a 20 year old Mary Harland as well as 3 servants. 1851 - 83 yrs, late farmer, living Westgate, Ripon with son John Harland Fleetham and his family.

Friar Terrace, Hartlepool, by banns. 1881 - 38 years, cashier, living at Wingate Grange Farm, Durham with his wife Jane. Also in residence was 13 yr old niece, Eliza Jane Spence b. Hoza Park, Yk.
Wife JANE SNOWDEN abt 1843: 17 Sept., 1879 - Marriage - Jane Snowden, full age, spinster, daughter of Christopher Snowden (deceased). Friar Terrace, Hartlepool, by banns. 1881 - 38 years. 1911 - 67 yrs, widow, dwelling 1 St Pauls Rd., West Hartlepool with niece Annie Hays and her husband.
