Residing in Uplyme, born in Budleigh Salterton of parents legally settled there. When he was 8 or 9 yrs old, he was bound apprentice to John Morris of Withycombe, yeoman. Served out his apprenticeship, lived with him for one year afterwards. Then went to Buckerell, lived with Mr Ellery there for three quarters of a year. Then he removed to Wilmington, lived there with James Griffin for three quarters of a year. Went to Mr Newberry, lived with him at Whitelands in Axmouth for three quarters of a year. Then went to farmer Denziloe, and lived with him about one year and a month, under a yearly living of wages at 3/6d per week. Then he removed with Mr Denziloe at Court Hall in Uplyme, lived with him eleven months and two weeks under the same hiring. Then he agreed with John Bazley of Uplyme, to serve him one year at 3/6d per week. Served out the year in Uplyme, afterwards worked for him 4 or 5 weeks. Then he went to Hole farm, Lyme Regis, Dorset, lived with Mr Goddard there for 5 weeks under a weekly hiring of 3/6d per week, served out the year. Worked for a further year at 7s per week as a daily labourer, when Mr Goddard quitted the farm. Then he worked for Mr Patterson chiefly at Uplyme as a daily labourer for nearly a year, occasionally working for other persons during the year. Worked another year as a day labourer at Uplyme. After, he married Hannah Fowler of Uplyme, who is now living and by whom he has three children now living. After his marriage he worked for 4 or 5 yrs as a day labourer, chiefly for Mr Denziloe, but never for one year uninterrupted. About 3 yrs since he worked as a day labourer for Mr Vincent at Pinney Farm, Axmouth for wages of 7s per week, with whom he has since remained.

Now resident in Whitechurch Canonicorum, Dorset. Born in Uplyme of parents legally settled there. He is now 33 yrs old. when aged 13, he hired himself to John Dodge for a year at 6d per week wages, board and lodging. At the expiration of which he agreed again for a second year at 1s per week and the third year at 1/6d per week, which he served out, received his wages. Then lived with William Fowler of the same parish, limeburner for 7 months, then went to Guernsey, hired himself to Captain Petro by the month at £4.10 wages, with whom he continued 5 yrs, sailing from one port to another to and from Guernsey. The returned to Uplyme took lodging, went to work as a daily labourer to Charmouth for about 1 year for George Case, farmer at Lilly farm, Charmouth. Then removed to Whitechurch, hired himself to Simon Buller, by the week at 7s wages, whom he served seven months during which time he married. Went to Marshwood, worked for Robert Spurdale for six months, then worked for Susan Buller in Whitchurch at 7s per week, with whom he continued for about 7 years, then hired himself to William Follett of Whitchurch at 6s per week wages for one year which he served, now working for William Follet.
