Now, I don't claim to be a big authority on this name, but along with a few other folk, we are start to put together some idesa of family trees. There are two obvious places of origin - the Wincanton area of Somerset from whence forth came the Lydlinch, Sturminster Newton lot, and Worfield area of Worchester which spread into Stafford and surrounding counties. From Sturminster Newton/Lydlinch went a family to Guernsey and several to the ports around Hampshire.
I figured because this was a relatively uncommon name it would be an ideal one to do a "one name study" on.
The family trees I've since constructed are probably not 100% accurate as I have not gone to the expence of purchasing hundreds of certificates from the GRO. I have used parish register records, cencus info, and a number of other online references to construct this lot. I'm open to any info you might have to correct or add to what is here.
I've broken the trees down into Counties for convenience sake and then into smaller family groups with notes.
Now, another must is visiting Sue's Cluett pages. The link I'm sending you to is to the search page - I visit it regularly, and from there you can go onto her home page. Sue's search page.
Have fun!!
